Unfortunately, we were wrong. So, I offered to take abah for a night in Melaka but abah missed home badly and decided to stay even without the water supply.
That's Din scratching his head in the hot sun.... merely taking a break from carrying two full buckets of water from the neighbour's well for abah. We just couldn't bare the thought of abah living without the water supply so we figured the least we could do was to fill in his tank in the bathroom.
The well was quite deep. According to Din, you must flip the bucket when it reaches 2 inches above the water. Smashing the bucket on the surface of the water will stir the dirt on the floor of the well. So, this tough looking job has to be done gently..... GENTLY.... Boy, it was a hot hot day....
For some obvious reasons I smashed the bucket on the water many times
before I got it right!
before I got it right!
how to estimate the 2 inches thingy from above???? susah lah....
I have decided that the"Melissa Gilbert" game was not fun at all....
it was a very.... very very hot day.....
So, after these two buckets were filled......
I let Din play the "Melissa Gilbert" game... hihihihihi.....
I let Din play the "Melissa Gilbert" game... hihihihihi.....
and I must say..... he played it well....
the late Micheal London would be so proud of him....

When my grandparents brought me up, I had the chance to perfect the technique. Then when I was already in college back in the early 80's my mom installed the handpump so getting water was a lot easier.
I had a chance to refresh my training when I married my first wife. We bathed by the well. Then after her father divorced the mother, and the mother was suffering from knee joint problems, I installed them with an electric water pump. The pump is still working after 18 years.
The part getting water from the well reminded me of my grandma's place. Best giler mandi air telaga - sejuk je. But the part yg nak carry water tu, mak oi....jauh tu. boleh tercabut lengan.
Btw, if you berkemban sambil ambik air kat telaga mesti nampak macam perempuan melayu terakhir, kan? kan?
sd, i will let the neighbour know abt the pump! hahahaha btw, abah just called and air dah ada dah... foooih!
spena, i berkemban mesti la nampak mcm melissa gilbert berkemban.... kan kan kan.....

bebek...... abih tu?????? tak kan aku nak angkut pulak? malu la Din.... hehehe
Aiz...ada husband yang suruh wife angkut semua...letak luggage dalam kereta...start kereta pasang air-con...dah ready baru call husband suruh masuk kereta.
Anyway, the pump tu you pasangkan senyap-senyap and supply to your FIL's house from the well.
Save duit air and tak payah Din angkat baldi berat...nanti malam you nak pakai dia susah..sakit pinggang.
ya la tu bebek...
kurus nyaaaaa hg masa angkat timba dari telaga tuuu.....kikikiki
