kuang kuang kuang rsvp pt ii

Being away from home with a team of colleagues whose mind matches yours is like being away on a holiday. A day is felt like a second... The thing I really hate about being away from home for a long time is that when you are finally home, the reality arrived. Errrrghhhhhhhh!!!!!
Today, I came home facing a dried up pond, hungry cats, hungry fishes, tons of bills in the letter box and my car is 1075 metres away from home...

When the necessary phone calls were made, you get news of your own stupidity which you are strongly against. Two of the days while I was away, I received two invitations to two parties. RSVP was included in one of them. Being extremely excited about my upcoming July schedule which requires me not having to work for 16 days straight(yahoo hoo), made me think of nothing else but those dates. I RSVPed only to find out that the month of the invites are in JUNE and not JULY. I, Aiz, the one who wrote about how important it is to RSVP, RSVPed and did not turn up to one invitation for failing to read the invite properly. Arrrrghhhhhhh!!!! How STUPID one can be....... ( am so so so sorry FAIZ)

So People, (aiz and all blog readers) " you only RSVP after understanding the invites"
Oh well, I am merely human. I shall get some rest now and wake up in a few hours to get ready for the second party which I initially thought will be held in July. Thank god I am back in time for otherwise my blog about RSVP will be void!!!!!

R.S.V.P.

About five years ago, a friend who got married was furious when some of whom he invited did not turn up on his wedding day. He made a big fuss out of it and stressed on the R.S.V.P. which was neatly printed on his wedding card. That was when I discovered that to respond to an RSVP is very important. It actually make sense because hosts would not put RSVP if they don't want us to respond to an RSVP.

Just what does RSVP means? It is a short form for Répondez s'il-vous-plaît or Réservez s'il-vous-plaît, a French phrase that translates to "Please respond"

This RSVP thingy had been on my head for three weeks now for I just could not understand why people are so bad at responding. Merely any excuses are not excepted BECAUSE thanks to technology, we have ways to communicate.

It bothered me so much, that I looked it up and found that RSVP is also Response Shall Verify Presence in English. Ahhhhh......that explains better than French. Which means, if they don't respond, they are not coming right?
WRONG!!!!!!!
There are people who don't respond and turn up. Or when they do respond, they respond at the very last minute when all the preparations are done. To make matters worst, they'll bring someone along. la la la la la .....

Some don't respond and decided to come with a phone call on D Day, only to find that the host can't accommodate their request and it ended up with a misunderstanding.

You see, a supposedly well organized party can be messy if we still don't understand and comply to any invitations. So, when it says RSVP, we respond please and when it says dress naked, we come naked please, please, please......

Bali - RSVP required...

lima puluh satu - RSVP not required
errr.... sommmmetimes...

like cats, love cats?

Sometimes I get annoyed when people keep on asking if I have kittens to give away.
The funny thing is there are hundreds of stray kittens that can be adopted but most of us fail to see that a restaurant can also be an adoption centre if we keep our mind open. Bring them home, send for check up, potty train them and in no time we have a cat to call our own.

One cat lover I know will put aside 10% of her pay that goes into her "kitty bank".
Another cat lover recently introduced me to May. May-May as she is affectionately known was a sick kitten who followed her across the street and jump into her car from the restaurant she called home. May-May's ear was torn and she had a wide opening on her back and blood was still oozing. After a visit to the vet, she recovered quickly. Now May-May is an active kitten who often bullies her best friend, August, an adopted puppy who was left by the road in a box.

Need a cat? Scout for one at your nearest food center.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all

I've just celebrated my 35Th birthday. It was quiet. Jet lagged, tired I slept throughout the day that was supposed to be solely mine. It, however began with a surprise birthday gift from a customer who thought I was still a very young lady. That complement was the best birthday gift ever. The Midnight Fantasy perfume that came much later after the complement was a bonus. The double bonus was that the perfume is by Britney Spears (she's weird but i like her anyway).

My text messages were filled with birthday wishes. Ex house-mate, one female best friend, one best friend's sister who happens to share the same birth date wit me, two unknown numbers, a few from ex schoolmates, one recorded birthday song by a sister, one by my youngest brother and that was all.

Though the birthday wishes were enough for me, I was disturbed that my best friend did not remember my birthday even after talking to him. The fact that his sister shares the same birth date with me, made me even more disturbed. So after the phone call, I text to remind him to wish his sister a happy birthday and turned my cell into a silent mode.

As I had guessed, he called and called again and finally sent me a colourful text birthday wishes. To my surprised, at practically the same time text messages came in from our common friends. A thank you template was sent to all.

Well the thing is there are only a handful of people I expect to get wishes from. Important people in my life. Having to know the effort made by anyone of them when it comes to a special someone in their lives makes you know where you stand. The reality hurts and it's no body's fault but your own. Never witnessing my mother remembering any one's birthday made it OK not to receive any wishes from her.

Anyway, it was a day to remember and I presume it should be the week to remember as I have not stopped celebrating. I will stop when I feel like it.

So, thank you all for the kind wishes and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all, may your wishes come true and you find great happiness in your life. Amin.

Last night Faiz, Komar, Din and I went to a reception wedding of Shaniza and Arif. The wedding was nice. Food was good but it will never beat the high light of the day, when Faiz and I were asked to give a speech and later on Faiz performed solo on the sax.

Faiz, Komar and I

Faiz was serious about his speech.

I wasn't.

and he was serious about the sax too.....

u r recommended to read from cerita satu, this is CERITA LIMA....

Din pulang dari Zohor. Sambil membuka kopiah, dia bercerita. Dia tertidur(seperti biasa) semasa menunggu Zohor.

Dia jerit-jerit lagi. Makin hampir, makin jelas jeritannya itu. Eh! apa yang dia kata? Apa? Dia berbahasa Melayu ke? Pandangan aku tepat pada Siti Rahmah si security tu. Dia menjerit lagi, dia jerit "INI RAUDAH!

Aku tersenyum, sinis...... Cik Timah nak ketawa..... Teruskan sembahyang, saf dah penuh dah ni....

cerita satu

Terbang melayang duit seribu ringgit. Tak nak salahkan sesiapa tapi diri sendiri. Cuaca terik dan kering. Penangan ais krim Movenpick mengeruhkan lagi keadaan. Huh! Siapa sangka hotel teruk itu lah 4 malam aku tidur seperti bayi. Di "istana" aku sering terjaga. Tidur yang paling tak lena selama perjalanan aku.
Setelah Maghrib, hidung ku berdarah. Terkejut di buatnya. Si pandai ni tak lah sepandai mana... di sangkakan darah kotor keluar melalui hidung....... bodoh...bodoh....
Setiba di tanah air, aku masih tak sihat lagi. Cuti sakit di ambil. Memang keadaan tak mengizinkan. Hilang sudah seribu ringgit. Nak sedapkan hati, rezeki di mana mana. Kesihatan perlu di jaga. Tapi, itu memang betullah.....
Nasib badan, terpaksa akur. Nak buat macam mana, tu lah banyak dosa....

Cradle Snatcher

Watching Ogy's long prayers after Dafi teased her during his performance last Saturday reminded me of my own, when I stumbled upon a darn good looking young man recently. Or shall I say a teenage boy who was sent by JPA to further his studies.

Our first meeting was right in front of the toilet and I said to him, " Dik, can you take your ablution else where? " He then said that all the toilets were full and that he will make sure that the toilet he was about to use will remain dry when he leaves. While he was performing his prayers I took a quick peep at the toilet, and true to what he said it was dry. Since we were about to finish work and was keeping everything in place, I have decided to let him know. So, while folding one of the prayer mats, I stood behind him.

When he was done, I quickly called for his attention "Dik...." but before I could finish my sentence he turned and that was when I saw his sweet wide smile revealing his finely ordered teeth, beautiful eyes with medium range lashes that almost curl, his fair baby-like skin and a powerful soothing voice to match.... I was almost speechless. I gathered my then very weak strength and told him that the prayer room will be closed the minute he leaves. He smiled and said "okay". With a smile that immediately put anyone on cloud nine, I attempted another question and asked him where will his Uni be? He smiled and answered. By then I was desperate to see more of the smiles that hardly cross my path. What are you majoring in? I asked probably looking like a fool. He SMILED and answered. At this point I was already melting and just refused to end the conversation or the Q & A rather and asked him. "So, which school did you go to?" He smiled and said "STJ" and I thought, eh? wait a minute, STJ??? Why was it so darn familiar????? As if he could read my mind he said "It's in Kuala Pilah".. My expressions changed and said " oh... that was my husband's school" (kuang kuang kuang)

The minute I uttered the word Husband, I finally came to my senses. Just what was I thinking???? A boy? who have not seen the world?????? I must be kidding myself. Long prayers were said and before I knew it I saw him again to bid farewell. He thank me profusely and I wished instead of saying Your welcome, I truly wanted to say " don't go breaking any one's heart, you hear!!!!!"

And that was the end of my short lived excitement. A very stupid one too......

money vs love pt 2

In my previous blog , I had written about how money can beat LOVE. The truth is that that was what I felt only at that particular moment when I was writing.

I always believe that money alone won't make you happy. Money and Love however, do.
Of late the topic about money arises wherever and everywhere I turn. It always make me sick to the stomach when money overrides LOVE.

A long good friendship turns sour. Parents acting cold. Relationships go into the tumble dryer, got folded when they are out. All because of money. The sad thing is that it all began with LOVE.
Love your friends. Parents love you. You fell in love and have a relationship. If love is the priority than money should come second, never first.

The thing is they knew that it all began with love but somehow was blinded by the root of all evil. Now.....my question is should I come out straight and give them a piece of my mind or should I stay quiet and witness them destroy themselves?

sombong or shy?

Anyone who knows me with the exception of Husni will be surprised to know that deep down I am a shy person. The funny thing is that I have just discovered it. I always wonder why I was and still get categorised as somebody who is quite snobbish. When I look back, I realised that I hardly have any conversation with a person I have just met. Worst, if they are in a group. The ice breaking procedure will sometimes take a longer time than I expected. However, if I can relate to that particular person, phone numbers will be exchanged almost immediately.

Husni will sometimes get upset when I put on that snobbish face of mine. Not that I want to but it comes naturally if I am having that awkward shy feeling. I wish I could explain why but I myself have to struggle with an answer to every occasion I put on that snobbish face..

Being in a customer service line, I am expected not to be shy hence a snobbish face is a big NO NO.... and if you happen to see me at work, you will think that I am lying. You will see a happy friendly person with a smile except if I have to wake up at wee hours in the morning than you'll see just a friendly person with a smile. Why? Beats me....

Maybe I don't have to spend the whole day talking to them. The most would probably take me an hour with a lot of intervals. Plus, I have a few other customers at one go. So, for a shy person who is not shy at work, I think that's fair.

Anyway, above all that I am very content with my life. I have an interesting family, few friends I trust, 5 shy cats and a husband who often rescue me from my shy moments. Being shy is a predicament?
^toot^ NO!!!!!

Hero

Children who adores their parents would definitely say they are the best among the very best.
I am one of them. Unfortunately my father passed away when I was 19. All I remembered was that he was the greatest man I have ever met. He was an awesome carpenter, green fingered gardener, very organized, well spoken, well traveled and extremely smart.

I adored him so much that I hated the days I had to wear skirts. I was not happy when I could not fit into the only shoes that was the same brand as my dad's. I pained me when he showed how much he dislike my favourite Teddy Bear (I guess it was because it was not from him).

As much as I want to be like him and have all his traits, I am none of those. I know I have his sense of humour and unfortunately his temper.

Recently I found out that dad never ill- spoke of anyone. No matter how bad he was affected, he never, never, never ill spoke of anyone. He was a kind hearted man and was liked by all his friends.

I met a man who was working with my dad. When he found out that I am my dad's daughter he was thrilled. From being unfriendly he turned to be very talkative. It sadden him when he found out that dad had passed away. I can't remember much about the conversation I had but I remembered what he had said about my dad repeatedly... " your father was a very nice man who enjoyed eating " I also found out that my dad made long trips for food.

So, yeah I got that too, the love for food....

Well just be it. Not an awesome carpenter, not a green fingered gardener, not very organized, not well spoken and not extremely smart. I just wish to be remembered as how my dad is remembered. A nice person who never ill spoke of anyone... and maybe a person who enjoyed food as well.

faith

she said no obligations. buy, only if you are going or if your friends are going... well, i was going that evening. i took the details. green and not more than rm30.

i got what she wanted. i got what i wanted but what i did not get was a solid 2 hours rest before the journey home. we stopped shopping at 4pm. at 5pm there wasn't any sign of us getting back. it was getting colder and darker. by 5.30pm everyone was restless. we should get back to the hotel at least by 7pm, i thought. no decent shower but we 'll at least make it for the flight home. 5.45pm, i query for another option back even if it will cost me a bomb. quite strangely, i was not worried... i have faith. 6pm we managed to struggle in a cramped van back to the hotel. journey was long. the traffic was horrendous. i managed a nap.

7pm, we were in front of the hotel. got in the room to find a message that the flight was delayed. which means a decent shower, ample time to pack and sitting comfortably drinking two cups of coffee.

see, i told you i have faith.... because just before i left, i asked her to pray that the journey to get the rm30 saree would not be difficult.

even the journey home was not difficult as i had suspected, i knew she already prayed for an easy journey for me all the way there and back home..

Stress vs unfriendly

He asked me why I looked stressed. I said that I was not stressed. He disagreed and was trying to convince me that I looked stressed. I said that maybe without realizing I do look stressed but honestly I was not stressed. Maybe the reason as to why I looked stressed was because I am not friendly. Not anymore.

He looked puzzled and asked me why. I said one can be friendly and nice but I have chosen to be nice but not friendly. I explained that it is sometimes not worth it being friendly to your colleagues especially when you can consider them as your subordinates. He said he understood. I hope he was telling me the truth.

Simon sent me an e mail today. It said "always keep people in your life that charge your battery, not those who will drain it"

Well my dear colleague who was concern of the look on my face, I wished I had read Simon's mail earlier. Maybe it would explained better.

Challenge for the day

A colleague informed that our boss today is moody. Though with a sleepless night I managed to pull it through. It wasn't that hard. I am a team player.

A colleague made fun of me for doing a favour for another colleague. The simplest explanation I gave was today is her day, I do not know when my day will come. With that, she belittled me. Angry but managed to think that this belittling colleague of mine has always been bitter.

A stranger stopped asking me for RM3 for his bus fare back to Nilai. To give or not to give was the question since I can smell his breath. Alcohol. Whatever he did with the RM2 I gave him, I just knew he really needed it.

Stopped to buy coffee, Rm1.80. No change for RM50. I left feeling like the world had her back on me.

A colleague gave me RM2 to buy coffee. I managed to control my tears.

A short day at work with a very good lesson of life.

kebersihan tanggungjawab kita semua

Zaman kecil dulu selalu kena paksa tolong mak buat kuih. Kadang-kadang kena bangun pukul 4 pagi.. dan kadang-kadang start lewat petang. masa tu arwah abah sihat lagi. Time time tu lah dia berseluar pendek akan jengok pokok-pokok yang dia tanamnya.

Arwah abah jawab “ dia baru lepas korek hidung”

Ye aku kecewa.... sebab hari tu we lost a pair of helping hands...

Chosen one

How dare you made me feel that I am not loved by HIM? How could you made me feel that I am not the chosen one?
Have you ever consider that witnessing the lives of Muslims from all over 6 continents of the world made me the chosen one?
Have you ever consider experiencing Ramadan and Eid Mubarak in all 6 continents made me the chosen one?
Do you know that working at odd hours taking care of the pilgrims to Mekah made me the chosen one?
Do you even know that hundreds of them thank me profusely while shaking my hand after performing hajj made me the chosen one?

Have I ever told you that I am a trained first aider so how could I not be the chosen one?
So how could you say that I am not the chosen one when what I do is taking care of people traveling through the 6 continents? Giving them food and drinks they deserve while ignoring what my stomach needs? Giving them the proper medication when they are in pain. Console them when the reason they traveled was because of a death in a family? Celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries or when they are on a honeymoon?
Do you actually realize the possibility that I might never come back the minute I leave the country? How many people would want to take the risk? So, how could I not be the chosen one?

We all are the chosen ones in our own ways.... I know I am.....

Would you rather....

have many friends or a handful of very close friends...

have beauty or brains...

have the same sex best friend, or an opposite sex best friend whom you obviously don't have to compete with...

have a big salary spending it all on yourself with a few outstanding bills or a small salary with no outstanding bills monthly...

be known as the person who wears branded stuffs who actually has to tell the world or a person whose branded stuffs are subtle and merely for self satisfaction...

take or give

live in a house like a kindergarten with mismatch furnitures or a house like a factory with furnitures that compliments......

what would you rather have or do?
